Bitzer’s new PS Series with EVD-ice combination is set to turn the industry on its head, according to the company's national sales manager, Shannon Egan.
This was evident when it was launched at the 2015 Technical Roadshow with Bitzer's newest technology quickly winning the hearts of engineers, fridgies, service managers and company directors alike.
Egan presented a host of technical data to support its bold claim that the PS Series evaporator, fitted with Carel’s new EVD-ice, is a game-changer.
He said the Buffalo Trident PS Series Evaporator factory fitted with the Carel EVD-ice superheat control provides the contractor with a plug and play package.
Factory fitting the EEV driver and Ultracap and wiring to all components including fans removes on site costs for parts and labour.
"In many installations, a liquid line solenoid is no longer required as the EVD-ice will regulate the EEV with an on/off signal from the room temperature control," he said.
"In the event of a power failure the Ultracap will discharge power to the EEV coil and drive the valve closed, preventing floodback to the refrigeration plant.
"Commissioning costs are also reduced with the factory programmed control (adjustment can be made on site), and the proven accuracy and performance of the EVD-ice providing a reduction
in pull down time for room temperature and product, resulting in energy savings for the end user."
At the centre of the EVD-ice evolution is the Carel electronic valve driver specifically designed to operate under extreme conditions, such as a medium temperature cold room and low temperature cold room.
Simple to install, the EVD-ice can be also easily connected to a cold room thermostat for regulation on / off signal and alarm.
"With the addition of Carel’s Ultracella technology, the user doesn’t even need to be in the cold room - messages, alarms and status display are all accessible from outside the room," Egan said.
EVD-ice can also be connected to a supervisory system for monitoring real time operating conditions, alarms and messages.
Easy commissioning is via a quick and easy start up with two parameters. Thanks to the user friendly interface, the installer can easily set refrigerant type and electronic superheat (ktd) thus avoiding recalibration. Advanced commissioning is available in a second level menu (MOP, LOP etc).
Plus, the Ultracap module provides an IP65 rated solution, with over-moulding technology completely sealing the device.
Integrated within the unit are high tech capacitors and an intelligent charging process, enhancing capacitor life and reliability of backup power.
Designed by fridgies for fridgies, the business end of the PS Series unit is easily accessible via a practical arrangement of panel sets, making servicing in the field quick and easy. The access panel of the PS houses the EVD-ice, consisting of an E2V valve, superheat control, connections for the supervisory monitoring system, and the extremely simple 2-parameter setup configuration control.
Egan said the long standing relationship between Bitzer and Carel has enabled both companies to work together in producing a set of products that categorically address the needs of customers at the industry's coalface.
With both companies producing complimentary equipment, working together on designing the PS Series / EVD-ice combination was a natural progression.
“Bitzer is at the forefront of our industry, and we’re fortunate to have a supply chain that includes other market leaders such as Carel. Our mutual business goals has enabled us to work together in meeting market demand, and as such we have exclusivity with this product in the Australian market and are the first to market globally,” Egan said.
While these products have been thoroughly tested, Egan said development is ongoing.
“We’re not intending to rest on our haunches - our engineering and R&D teams continually respond to market feedback and the PS /EVD ice combination is no different,” he said.
At the core of Bitzer’s global business model is a production system that puts a huge emphasis on continuous improvement. “We will continue to acknowledge and react to our customers’ needs to reinforce our position at the forefront of the industry,” he added.
