The second biennial ARCtick Environment Award for Exemplary Refrigerant Management in the mobile sector will be presented at the Wire & Gas 2026 convention in Brisbane on August 1, 2026.

Nominations for the award are made by Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) field officers based on their field engagement visits to thousands of Refrigerant Trading Authorisation (RTA) holders around Australia.

In partnership with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) administers the ARCtick licensing scheme.

The scheme licenses more than 114,000 individuals and businesses to use refrigerant gases scheduled under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995.

Each year, the ARC field engagement officers visit nearly 10,000 RTAs across the country, and when an RTA stands head and shoulders above the rest, they are nominated for the ARCtick Award.

A judging panel then determines the finalists and ultimately selects the best of the best.

ARC deputy CEO, Susie O’Neill, said the award reflects exemplary performance in every aspect of permit compliance, from records for refrigerant bought, sold and recovered for destruction, to equipment lists to ensure that recovery units, vacuum pumps, electronic leak detectors and cylinders for effective refrigerant management are in good working order.

“This award recognises those who set the benchmark for exemplary practice in refrigerant management. Meeting every requirement takes genuine effort and commitment, and this award acknowledges the individuals and businesses who go above and beyond,” she said.

The ARC also recognises excellence in the stationary sector with the ARCtick Environment Award for Exemplary Refrigerant Management with this year’s winner in the stationary sector, Crafter Pty Ltd, based in South Australia, announced at the recent ARBS 2026 exhibition.

Stationary and the mobile sector winner will join past winners on the honour roll of Australia’s most exemplary RTAs.

The inaugural 2024 winner in the mobile sector was MF Auto Prestige at Lynbrook in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Wire & Gas will be staged by VASA and The Automotive Technician at The Westin Hotel in Brisbane, from July 31 to August 2.
