A‑Gas, in collaboration with leading HVACR wholesale partners Actrol and Airefrig, has launched Reclaim Rewards, a nationwide program designed to encourage and recognise responsible refrigerant recovery across the Australian HVACR industry.
The Reclaim Rewards program supports a sustainable approach to lifecyle refrigerant management by increasing recovered refrigerant for reclamation and reuse.
A-Gas Australia managing director, Brett Ferguson, said by keeping refrigerants in circulation, the program helps reduce emissions, support continuity of supply, and reduces reliance on newly manufactured product.
“Responsible refrigerant recovery is one of the most effective ways our industry can reduce environmental impact while ensuring reliable access to refrigerants,” he said.
“Reclaim Rewards recognises businesses already leading the way in refrigerant recovery and supports greater participation across the industry.”
To bring Reclaim Rewards to market, A-Gas has partnered with Actrol and Airefrig to make participation simple for HVACR businesses, using existing refrigerant return processes through their branch networks.
Actrol category lead for refrigeration, Mark Heliar, said that as a wholesale partners, Actrol is committed to supporting sustainable practices that benefit customers and the wider industry.
“Reclaim Rewards makes responsible recovery simple and accessible, while helping contractors contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes and be rewarded at the same time,” Heliar said.
Airefrig Australia general manager, Stephen Cross, reinforced the importance of industry collaboration.
“Airefrig is committed to supporting HVACR businesses with practical solutions that improve operational efficiency and environmental outcomes,” Cross said.
“Reclaim Rewards encourages responsible recovery, and we’re proud to support the program and help drive positive change across the HVACR sector.”
HVACR businesses can register for the Reclaim Rewards program and continue returning recovered refrigerant through participating Actrol and Airefrig branches as part of their normal operations.
Businesses are recognised and rewarded for increasing returned refrigerant volumes, including eligibility to win a trip to Japan.
The program runs over a 12‑month period and is designed to reward sustained improvements in recovery behaviour, rather than one‑off returns.
Recovered refrigerant that is reclaimed to AHRI Standard 700 can be safely reused, delivering long-term benefits for both the environment and the industry. Through responsible recovery and reclamation, Reclaim Rewards helps to:
- Reduces emissions associated with refrigerant leaks and virgin manufacture
- Support a circular economy by keeping valuable refrigerants in use
- Maintain continuity of supply for essential cooling and refrigeration applications
- Reduces dependence on virgin refrigerant production
Registrations for Reclaim Rewards are now open. Australian HVACR businesses are encouraged to register and take part in the program. For more information or to register, visit reclaimrewards.agas.com.
