Viessmann Clean & Cold Solutions will be showcasing its new, in-house developed TectoCore range of refrigeration units at Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg next month.

The showcase will include the WMx5, a wall-mounted refrigeration unit from this product family. In future, Viessmann will offer the refrigeration units together with TectoCell cold and freezer rooms as so-called TectoSystem units.

CEO of Viessmann Clean & Cold Solutions Europe, Dr Markus Thoennes, said the company will be redefining the benchmark for plug-and-play refrigeration technology.

The units in the TectoCore generation are permanently technically leak-tight and, thanks to their high energy efficiency and ease of maintenance, represent a safe, sustainable investment in the future with particularly low life-cycle costs.

For the new WMx5 generation of TectoCore refrigeration units, Viessmann has succeeded in implementing new condensers with a significantly lower internal volume.

Viessmann head of research & development, Michael Stein, said this design optimises refrigerant flow, resulting in improved system performance at ambient temperatures from -5 to +43 degrees Celsius.

The units in the new TectoCore generation require no more than 150g of refrigerant.

“In terms of EER values, the new TectoCore WMx5 refrigeration unit delivers an efficiency increase of at least 10% compared with our previous WMx3 generation. This dramatically reduces life-cycle costs," Stein said.

Another highlight of the new TectoCore refrigeration units: the refrigeration circuit is hermetically sealed with permanent joints and tested to be “permanently technically leak-tight”, as Stein puts it.

To achieve this, Viessmann has, among other things, used a completely new pipe geometry in developing the WMx5 generation and decoupled the pipe system from the compressor, which is mounted with anti-vibration mounting.

The new geometry helps to significantly reduce pipe vibrations and rule out pipe breakages. All pipe joints are brazed and therefore permanent.

Viessmann's development team also focused on maximum corrosion protection: the evaporators feature e-coates evaporator (KTL), while the hot-gas coil is made from copper-nickel-iron alloy (CuNiFe) tubing.

Viessmann tests the technical leak-tightness of the TectoCore refrigeration units on a helium test rig at its Hof factory.
