Nidec Drives has increased investment in Asia as part of a broader strategy to support the global energy transition with next generation technologies.

The $US55 million Orchard Hub Campus in Hubli, Karnataka, India, is Nidec’s largest and most advanced manufacturing facility in that country, spanning 50 acres and housing six cutting-edge plants.

The campus produces high efficiency motors and drives for industrial and commercial applications, Battery energy storage systems (BESS) for grid stability and renewable integration, EV motors, controllers, and chargers for electric mobility and data centre and wind turbine generators for critical infrastructure.

With manufacturing facilities across China, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas, Nidec Drives offers geographic diversity that benefits customers with shorter, more resilient supply chains.

President of Nidec Motion & Energy, Michael Briggs, said this global footprint ensures products are available wherever they are needed, keeping lead times to a minimum and providing reassurance that operations remain uninterrupted.

The drives are manufactured using identical machinery, technology, and techniques across all sites. This model guarantees that any updates or changes made at headquarters are swiftly implemented worldwide, ensuring consistent quality and reliability for every customer.

“The addition of the Orchard Hub means Asia is now serving Asia,” Briggs said.

“Bringing Nidec Drives products closer to customers in the Asia-Pacific region. This expansion strengthens the company’s’ ability to meet volume demands quickly and efficiently, while maintaining the same high standards of performance and dependability.”

Briggs said India holds a pivotal place in Nidec’s global strategy.

“With an investment of $55 million, The Orchard Hub reflects our belief in the country’s potential to lead the next wave of industrial transformation. This facility is not merely a manufacturing site, it is a symbol of our commitment to building a sustainable, innovation-driven future in partnership with India.

We are proud to see our vision realised through the dedication of our teams and the support of our partners, and we look forward to contributing meaningfully to India’s economic and technological progress.”
