Midea Australia showcased the growing breadth of its local product portfolio at ARBS 2026.
From residential air conditioning innovation to oil-free chiller technology, Midea demonstrated its expanding commercial HVAC capability in the Australian market.
Midea’s stand featured a broad mix of residential and commercial technologies, including the Vesta ducted system range, Smartsaver and Athena residential systems, along with commercial chillers, VRF systems and heat pump solutions.
Midea sales centre manager – QLD/NT, Troy Leighton, said the company was increasingly focused on bringing more of its global product range directly into the Australian market.
“Midea, being one of the largest manufacturers in the world, manufacture for many OEM brands, but today we’re here to showcase a lot of our own products,” Leighton said.
The company’s growing light commercial and residential ducted product offering, particularly the Vesta ducted range, attracted plenty of attention at the exhibition.
The Vesta systems include low-profile ducted units starting at 7 kW and 9 kW along with larger 10, 12, 14 and 17 kW systems designed to suit a broad range of residential and light commercial applications.
Leighton said one of the key innovations within the range was the introduction of a self-cleaning indoor coil system designed to improve indoor air quality and long-term efficiency.
The technology allows the indoor coil to freeze and expand during a cleaning cycle, helping remove organic matter from the coil surface.
“Mould spores need organic matter to grow, so by using that self-cleaning function on a monthly basis, it will improve indoor air quality in people’s homes,” Leighton said.
The system is also designed to improve efficiency by reducing fouling on the indoor coil and maintaining stronger airflow performance.
Midea has also integrated intelligent AI-based controls capable of identifying airflow restrictions and automatically increasing fan speed when filters begin blocking.
“We do have an intelligent AI chip in our systems that will ramp up the fan motor when it’s recognising that the filter’s starting to block,” Leighton said.
Another major attraction on the stand was Midea’s commercial HVAC range, particularly its new oil-free magnetic bearing chiller technology.
The company showcased its MagBoost Apex chiller systems as part of a broader push into data centre cooling and larger commercial applications.
Leighton said Midea Building Technologies (MBT) would increasingly focus on supplying chillers and larger commercial systems into the Australian market.
“We’re introducing our oil-free magnetic chillers,” he said.
Midea also highlighted its expanding VRF range, including the V8 series and the upcoming V9 VRF systems currently being released into the market.
Other products that drew the crowds were Midea’s heat pump systems which use low GWP R290 refrigerant.
Leighton said Midea was already one of the world’s largest producers of R290 compressors and split-system technologies globally.
“We’re one of the biggest producers of R290 compressors and air conditioning systems in the world,” he said.
Another major focus for the business was industry training and after-sales support.
Midea recently opened a new MBT Training Centre and showroom in Oakleigh, Victoria, allowing contractors and technicians to receive hands-on training across residential, VRF and chiller systems.
The company is also expanding its technical support infrastructure nationally, including service teams, spare parts capability and additional training facilities.
Leighton said Midea’s long residential warranty program remained another important competitive advantage.
“We do still have the longest warranties in the marketplace,” he said.
