Alfa Laval presented a broad portfolio of new heat transfer solutions for natural refrigerants, high-pressure systems and industrial heating and cooling applications at this year's Chillventa.
The company also showcased its largest copper-brazed high-pressure plate heat exchanger to date.
Visitors gained early insight into the next-generation copper-brazed plate-and-fin heat exchanger technology.
Alfa Laval Mid Europe division manager energy, Fabian Schega, said with the EU F-gas Regulation entering into force in 2024, companies are facing increasing pressure to transition to natural refrigerants such as CO₂, ammonia and propane.
He said Alfa Laval offers a wide range of plate heat exchangers designed for use with these refrigerants.
"Alfa Laval heat exchangers are designed for the safe and efficient use of natural refrigerants, meeting demanding requirements for pressure resistance, corrosion protection and operational safety," Schega said.
“Our customers are looking for solutions for a wide variety of applications and capacity ranges."
The Alfa Laval showcase included:
- AXP172: The largest frameless high-pressure plate heat exchanger in Alfa Laval’s copper-brazed portfolio. Designed for transcritical CO₂ applications in large-scale heat pumps and refrigeration systems.
- SE43: Designed for heat pump applications in residential and light commercial buildings and specifically developed for propane refrigerant (R290).
- CB450: Alfa Laval’s largest copper-brazed plate heat exchanger to date. Designed for use in industrial heat pumps and district heating.
- CB16SL: An internal heat exchanger enabling high efficiency heat pumps using low-GPW refrigerants such as R-454C and R290 in residential and light commercial heat pump applications.
Alfa Laval also highlighted the TS45, its new semi-welded plate heat exchanger. Developed specifically for high-capacity applications and large flow rates, the TS45 is the latest addition to the company's semi-welded range.
With its new copper brazed plate-and-fin heat exchanger technology, purpose-built for industrial heat pumps, Alfa Laval also previewed technology intended for poor-conductive gases and fluids, delivering higher efficiency and enabling more compact system designs.
