Li Liu is estimation manager at Precise Air. She is a qualified HVACR engineer with an eye for detail.
We all know that estimators are a critical part of the business. It is their job to assess and mitigate risk and communicate this to the builder.
“I don’t think there are many engineers, male or female, working in this role; they don’t always understand how important, varied, challenging and interesting it can be,” Li says. “I can identify details that may be missing from tender documents as well as problems with design and provide advice for problems I can see what will come up during the construction phase.”
Li says she is lucky to have such a tolerant and supportive team. She says more women working in HVACR means new ideas, new ways of thinking and communicating.
“I see it as my role to mentor young women and to encourage them to consider a career in HVAC engineering,” she says.
Li has been working in HVACR for more than 15 years. Earlier in her career she had first hand experience running her own HVAC company which manufactured grilles and dampers.
