Adjunct Professor Wendy Miller is from Queensland University of Technology’s School of Architecture and Built Environment.

Wendy has conducted research in energy efficiency and renewable energy with a particular focus on the built environment.

Current research projects relate to the Innovation Hub for Affordable Heating and Cooling (www.ihub.org.au), in particular managing Living Laboratories that create spaces where industry can test market ready technologies that can enhance the integration of renewable energy and HVAC / Building services to reduce peak demand and enhance the value of renewable energy.

“Buildings are not habitable without their integrated services, and HVAC are essential services in buildings that cannot be effectively ventilated, heated and/or cooled by natural means,” Wendy explains.

“This industry has a large responsibility for designing, maintaining and operating the services that support the health and wellbeing of occupants, but also have a responsibility for providing these services in a manner which does not contribute further to the warming climate, and must at the same time operate within the warming climate.”

These are big challenges and Wendy has been making a difference for more than 20 years.
